Local farmers’ market website and community management
Background
Elgin Farmers’ Market is a year-round market that meets weekly every Thursday from 5-8pm in downtown Elgin, TX. Vendors either grow or make all the products they sell.
The market needed a simple, easy to manage site that allowed them to highlight their vendors, mission and general information. Many vendors are small businesses, often run along side another job, who don’t have their own online space outside of social media. The market wanted to provide a single space for the wider community to discover their local food producers and local artisans.
They also required print materials for marketing and advertising.
My role
- Planning a simple structure for the site
- User interface design
- Digital illustration for the web and print
- Site build using wordpress
- Print design
- Community management of instagram and facebook accounts
The market is a non-profit relying on membership, booth fees and donations to continue to operate. My time on this project was given freely and I continue to manage the site and the online community.
